Hi, i’m a 20 year old male and have had this problem for as long as i can truely remember, whenever i lay down or sit for an extended period of time whilst not adopt proper posture (sitting/laying with a semi curved back) i got numbness in the left side of my ribcage, ranging from my back all the way round to the front and have never known what the cause is, i have seen a doctor in the past but he just told me to take paracetamol topically but i don’t want to pop pills every time i lay down so wondered if you had an knowledge of this kind of issue,
Sorry to hear that you are having such a hard time!
The numbness is possibly due to irritation of the intercostal nerves on the left side.
Possible causes of that could include disk problems or scoliosis.
Get someone to have a look at you so that you can get a proper diagnosis as that would be the first step towards treatment.
