Hiatal Hernia Adjustment

Hi Dr. Kris,
I’ve been managing a small (around 2 cm) hiatal hernia with a daily PPI and a non-aggravating diet, but still experiencing reflux, burning in the chest/stomach, and a feeling of food sticking midway.

I wanted to ask my main question— do you work with this type of case using direct visceral techniques like manually pulling the stomach down through the diaphragm? I’ve read about ventral subluxations contributing to these symptoms too, so I’m curious if your approach includes diaphragm release, visceral manipulation, and any postural or breathing retraining.

Thanks in advance — I’d really appreciate any insight.

Hi,

I do manually pull down on the stomach. I also free up the area of the spine where the diaphragm attaches, work on associated muscles and give lifestyle/ergonomic advice for this kind of thing.

Kris
