Hi, I wonder if you can advise whether Chiropractic Treatment would help me. I have had ongoing sciatica for 9 weeks. I believe it may have started from a task I was doing at work where I was bending down from a seated position constantly for 8 hours to pick paperwork from the floor and lifting heavy bags of paperwork. I have been to my GP 4 weeks ago who prescribed me Gabapentin however after taking this for several weeks the pain has not improved, if anything it has got worse. I am in constant pain which is affecting my day to day life at home and at work, and doing activities with my children. I have no back pain, however the pain comes from my right buttock and shoots down the back of my thigh (it does not go below the knee). The pain occurs when I stand from sitting (I have a desk job), when I sit down and is currently waking me from sleep in the night when I roll over or move. The pain eases off when I start to walk however I still have a dull ache/cramp in the area when I walk. I have spent 9 weeks doing light exercises as advised online and via the GP however nothing seems to be working. Is this something you think could be treated at your clinic?
Hi,
That does sound like the kind of thing a chiro should be able to help you with. Obviously, you would need to be examined first to get a better idea but we do see a lot of patients with pain down a leg and help many/most of them.
I suggest you go and see your nearest chiro and see if they can help.
